Bio
Aurelia Burnham, a native New Yorker, is currently an active member of the vibrant artist community of Philadelphia. Upon graduation from the world renowned Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, she was awarded both the Gamblin and Stimson prizes for outstanding achievement. Aurelia's successful showings at PAFA and several galleries in Philadelphia - most recently at the Artists' House Gallery - has resulted in a growing and enthusiastic clientele throughout the Northeast.

Artist statement
I employ illusionism to make tangible visualizations of what could be, and impressions of what I’ve experienced during lucid dreams. I create portraits and figure compositions that utilize the human face to portray emotions that are too intricate for verbal description alone, and emphasize the spatial elements of my subjects' surroundings to further evoke emotion. I believe that a versatile and experimental approach allows me to reach beyond realism to more fully express my ideas. The more I am told that unfortunate aspects of reality cannot be changed, the more determined I am to change them.
